With my career as a student over, I found myself unsure of what I wanted to do with my time. The never-ending writing anxiety always comes for me. I have looked for things to cheer me up as I go, from playing games to watching new shows, but I'm not sure if it's relaxing enough. One thing that has piqued my interest is podcasts. This new pastime started after I was introduced to a show called Morbid. This show is filled with delightful banter from two of the best true crime enthusiests I have heard to this day. Their podcast is unique because of the personalities of the aunt-niece duo Alaina and Ash. Now, do I have an exciting character to have people listening for episodes upon episodes? It made me think, should I look into making a podcast? That's an excellent question.

I'm thinking I will spend some time now working on a podcast and trying to create it. I have friends who have already started making podcasts, and they said it was a great route to explore outside of writing for film and telvison! That is what I'll do, so I invite you to join me as I see if this is something I can tackle and what things I learn along the way.
Concept:
I do find myself constantly turning back to the supernatural. As spooky and terrifying as it is, I enjoy hearing stories of creatures in the woods, outside your windows, or in your room. I think I will make a fictional supernatural podcast, but I want to take a page from the show The Twilight Zone. Maybe each episode is its own world, but it feels like they are intertwined at heart. That would involve the main character, much like the Warren family in The Conjuring. A group of people surveys events that are happening to other people. This would be an excellent first step. I would like a detective, a private investigator.

Who are they meeting with? What helpful hand are they lending to this world? I need a secondary main character, someone who will help push the show forward for the audience. I'm thinking of a spouse. It's cliche, though there is the lifelong saying that "the husband did it," however do I want the character to be male. I'll have to think on that one. I know they will be in distress and the story they have to tell is quite strange.
Then there is the creature. What realm of curse lore will I look to for inspiration? What strange and fascinating idea will I come up with to keep people up at night? I'm fascinated with many different beings that have terrorized people throughout the years, but I think I would like to focus on a watcher, something that has an obsession with the characters and won't leave their side. Stories of looking out at the trees and seeing eyes watching back or walking throughout the house and feeling like someone is behind you. I believe I can have a lot of fun with this. I know I can.
We have to find a way to bring this world through voice and sound; many fictional podcasts have a grounding element. They are discovered on tapes or radio shows, it's usually unclear to the audience without that grounding format, but others have succeeded. The only question is which is the best format for my ideas? Once I decide that I can move forward and tear into the world.
This new step is exciting, a fresh idea with virtually infinite amounts of possibilities.
I will keep you all updated as I continue forward on this journey. I hope all are well and that you all find new paths as entertaining as the last.
